Septic Services in Minneola, FL
Minneola grew up around a lake that used to be called Cow House Lake, and it has been catching Clermont's overflow growth for twenty years. The town covers about 11.5 square miles, part hillside, part low ground near the water. We pump tanks on old farmhouses off US-27 and on county lots tucked between new subdivisions. It is about 20 minutes from our Howey-in-the-Hills shop. Pumping $350, inspections $395, 24/7.
How a job goes in Minneola
- Call (352) 298-9384. Tell us the age of the house and what the yard is doing and we can usually narrow the problem before we load a hose.
- Minneola is about 20 minutes from Howey-in-the-Hills, straight up the SR 19 and US-27 side, so same-day service is routine.
- On site we locate the tank and hand-dig to the lid. On these deep old lots the tank is often much closer to the house than people assume, and the field is much further away.
- With the lid off we read sludge and scum depth and check whether the outlet is passing. That reading is the difference between a pump-out solving your problem and a pump-out buying you three months.
- Full pump-out, lid reset, ground restored, and the price is the one we quoted. If the field is the real issue, we will tell you what a proper repair looks like rather than selling you another pumping in the spring.

Who issues septic permits in Minneola?
Lake County's health department, since Minneola has been part of Lake County since 1887. We pull the permit and meet the inspector for you.
There are no records for my system. Is that normal here?
Very. Minneola was an unincorporated settlement from 1884 and did not incorporate until the mid-1920s, so plenty of systems predate any paperwork worth having. Opening the tank is how we establish what you actually own.
Does it matter whether I am up the hill or down by the lake?
It matters more than almost anything else. Ridge lots drain well and give a field room to breathe. Lots near Lake Minneola, which makes up part of the city's water area, have less separation from groundwater and show it every wet season.
My family has grown. Can my old system keep up?
Often it has not, and that is the most common hidden failure we see here. A field sized for two people in 1994 is being asked to handle five in 2026. Pumping on schedule helps, but if the field is undersized, the honest fix is a bigger field.
What we see in Minneola
The first settlers
Settled around 1880
Settlers moved in around 1880, and Henry Wilson began establishing citrus groves near what was then Cow House Lake. A post office followed three years later, and the lake was renamed Lake Minneola when the settlement was surveyed.
Very little of that original housing survives, but the parcel pattern does. Long, deep lots running back from the old roads, with tanks placed wherever made sense at the time and drainfields sized for a household half the size of today's.
A county line that moved
Founded in 1884
Minneola was formally founded in 1884 as an unincorporated area, originally part of Sumter County, and became part of Lake County when that county was created in 1887. It was not incorporated as a city until 1925 or 1926.
That history matters for a practical reason: records are thin. When a system predates modern permitting, nobody can hand you a diagram, and the only reliable way to know what you own is to open the lid and look.
We do that on nearly every first visit here, and it settles most arguments about what the system is and is not capable of.
Between the ridge and the lake
11.47 square miles
The city covers 11.47 square miles, about 5 percent of it water. Lots up on the ridge behave like Clermont's hill lots, with good separation and sandy soil. Lots down toward Lake Minneola behave like lakefront property anywhere.
The new subdivisions climbing the hills north of town are largely on central utilities. The septic work sits in between, on the county parcels the growth has not absorbed yet, where a 1990s field is now carrying a 2020s household.
