Septic Services in Groveland, FL

Groveland has grown faster than almost anything around it, and its septic systems span that entire arc. The town started as Taylorville, a turpentine settlement, and became Groveland in 1922. Today it covers roughly 28 square miles at the crossroads of SR 50, SR 19 and SR 33. It is about 25 minutes from our Howey-in-the-Hills shop. Pumping $350, inspections $395, 24/7.

How a job goes in Groveland

  1. Call (352) 298-9384. Describe what you are seeing and we will tell you whether it is a tank problem, a field problem, or a line problem before we ever quote you.
  2. Groveland is about 25 minutes from Howey-in-the-Hills, and the SR 19 route in means we are not fighting Orlando traffic to get to you.
  3. On arrival we find the tank and dig to the lid by hand. On flat lots we also want to see the field area, because standing water twenty feet from the tank changes the whole diagnosis.
  4. We read the tank before pumping it, then pump it fully, solids and all. If the ground tells us the field is saturated rather than clogged, you hear that plainly, along with what it would take to fix properly.
  5. Lid back, sod back, and the price is the one we quoted. If a repair or replacement is what it actually needs, we handle the county permitting and inspection when you are ready.

Called around 7pm for an emergency flush of the septic tank. They came next day, 8:30, on time! Very friendly and honest staff. Got the work done efficiently and quick, and also gave us good advice on how to prolong the health of our septic tank. Mr. Greg was very helpful!

Questions from Groveland homeowners

Who permits septic work in Groveland?

Groveland is in Lake County, so permits and inspections run through the county health department. We file and meet the inspector.

Why does my drainfield struggle when my neighbor's is fine?

Usually elevation, by a foot or two. This is flat pine and lake country, and small differences in how high a field was set decide whether it clears the wet-season water table. Two houses on the same street can be on opposite sides of that line.

I run a kitchen off SR 50. Do you handle grease traps?

Yes, on a schedule. Groveland sits at the crossroads of SR 50, SR 19 and SR 33, and the food service along those routes keeps us busy. Scheduled trap service costs a fraction of an emergency line blockage.

My subdivision is new. Do I have a septic system?

Most new Groveland subdivisions inside the city are on central utilities, so probably not. Older county homes around them almost always are. If your bill has no sewer charge, assume a tank and let us confirm it.

What we see in Groveland

Turpentine and timber

Settled in 1895

Brothers C. C. and B. M. Taylor settled here in 1895 and built a turpentine still just north of Lake David. The settlement took their name until a city council meeting renamed it Groveland in 1922.

Old-town Groveland still has the small lots and modest houses of that era, and the systems under them have been patched by whoever was available across a hundred years. We find hand-poured tanks, clay pipe and fields nobody has records for.

Low country and pine flats

About 28 square miles

The city covers roughly 28 square miles, much of it the flat pine and lake country that made the timber industry possible in the first place. Flat ground with a high water table is the classic hard case for a conventional drainfield.

Unlike Clermont's hills a few miles east, a lot of Groveland has very little fall to work with. When a field here is set too low, there is no downhill for the water to use, and the yard becomes the overflow.

These are the jobs where a mound or a properly elevated field is not an upsell, it is the only design that will still work in August. We would rather explain that once than come back every rainy season.

The new Groveland

Amazon and Kroger-Ocado

Recent additions to the local economy include a Kroger-Ocado fulfillment center and an Amazon warehouse facility. Rooftops followed the jobs, and Groveland has been one of the faster-growing places in the county for two decades.

New subdivisions inside the city are generally on central utilities. The septic work is on the ring around them: the older county homes, the small ranch lots off the clay roads, and the commercial kitchens serving all those new residents, where the call is usually a grease trap rather than a tank.
