Septic jetting (hydro jetting) uses high-pressure water to scour the inside of sewer and septic lines, cutting out grease, sludge, roots, and scale that a snake just pokes a hole through. It restores a slow line to its full diameter instead of giving you a month of relief before the clog returns.
A cable machine only drills a hole through the clog. Jetting scrubs the whole inside of the pipe clean.
Jetting cleans the pipe wall itself, which matters in septic country, where the line from house to tank, the tank outlet, and distribution lines all accumulate grease and biological sludge that narrows them year after year.
We jet house-to-tank lines, tank outlets, and drainfield distribution lines, plus commercial kitchen lines that grease up constantly. Jetting is also part of a proper drainfield diagnosis: sometimes a “failing field” is really a clogged header line, and an hour of jetting saves you a 0,000 replacement.
Signs you need jetting
- Recurring clogs in the same line: a snake fixes it, and it comes back in weeks
- Slow drains across the house with a tank that was recently pumped
- Gurgling and smell from a line that “was just cleared”
- Kitchen lines that grease up on a cycle (homes with disposals, and every restaurant)
- A drainfield that takes water unevenly (one soggy stripe, the rest dry)
- Roots found at the last pump-out or inspection
What’s included
- Camera or flow assessment first where the situation calls for it, so we jet only what needs jetting
- High-pressure jetting of the affected line: house-to-tank, outlet, or distribution lines
- Root cutting with the appropriate nozzle where intrusion is the cause
- Grease-line jetting for kitchens, on schedule if you want it
- Verification that the line runs full-bore afterward
- Straight talk if jetting is the wrong fix: a collapsed pipe needs repair, not water
What it costs
Straight quote over the phone, (352) 298-9384. Price depends on line length, access, and what’s in it. If we get in and find the line is broken or collapsed (which jetting cannot fix), we stop and tell you rather than billing hours against a lost cause.
How long it takes & what to expect
Most residential jetting jobs take 1–2 hours. Recurring commercial grease lines go faster once they’re on a schedule, because they never get fully blocked. You’ll know it worked the same day; the difference in flow is not subtle.
On the job
- Camera or flow assessment first, so we jet only what needs jetting
- High-pressure jetting of house-to-tank, outlet and distribution lines
- Root cutting with the appropriate nozzle where intrusion is the cause
- The line verified running full-bore before we leave
Why Martin Septic
- We jet as part of diagnosis, not as a default upsell, and we say when it won’t help.
- The same crew sees your tank and field, so line problems get read in context.
- Restaurant grease lines on a schedule mean you stop meeting your plumber at midnight.
- Jetting needs no permit, so it schedules as fast as we can get a truck to you.
- Available on the 24/7 line when a blocked line will not wait for morning.
Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between snaking and hydro jetting?
A snake drills a hole through the blockage. The buildup stays on the pipe walls and regrows. Jetting scours the walls clean with high-pressure water, restoring the pipe’s full diameter. Snaking is a patch. Jetting is a reset.
Can jetting fix a failing drainfield?
Sometimes, if the “failure” is actually a clogged header or distribution line, jetting restores flow for a fraction of repair cost. If the field itself is biologically sealed, jetting won’t save it. Honest diagnosis first tells you which one you have.
Is hydro jetting safe for old pipes?
Generally yes at appropriate pressures, but a pipe that’s already cracked or collapsed can be worsened by any intervention. When age or symptoms suggest damage, we assess first and skip the jetting if the real fix is repair.
How much does septic jetting cost?
It depends on line length, access, and severity, quoted straight over the phone at (352) 298-9384. Recurring commercial grease-line jetting is priced on schedule and costs less per visit than emergency callouts.
How often should restaurant drain lines be jetted?
Busy kitchens: typically every 6–12 months, timed with grease trap service. The right interval is the one where the line never fully blocks, we find it after a visit or two and put you on the calendar.
