The Septic Guide

What Does a Septic Pump-Out Cost in Central Florida? (Real 2026 Prices)

Martin Septic charges $350, flat, for a residential pump-out anywhere in Lake, Sumter, or Marion County, locating the tank and digging to the lid included. That is the published price, and it is the whole price. Here is what it covers and what legitimately changes a septic pumping quote.

What legitimately changes a quote

A septic pumping price is really a bundle of tasks, and quotes differ mostly in which tasks are inside the number:

  • What the pumping covers. Some quotes cover pumping liquids only, leaving the sludge that was the entire point. A real pump-out takes everything: liquid, sludge, and scum.
  • Tank size and second compartments. Legitimate factors. Larger tanks and dual compartments take more time and more volume, and can honestly cost more. What matters is being told before the truck rolls.
  • Access. A lid under a deck or concrete is genuinely extra work. Again: the number should come before the shovel.

What $350 includes here

  1. Locating the tank (county records, probe, or experience; no “locator fee”)
  2. Digging to the lid and putting the sod back
  3. Pumping the entire tank, solids and scum included
  4. A quick condition check of the tank, baffles, and tees while it’s open
  5. A straight verbal report: fine, watch it, or fix it, with numbers if it’s “fix it”

Questions that keep any company honest

Ask these on the phone, whoever you call: Is locating included? Is digging included? Does the price cover pumping solids, or liquids only? Are there fuel, disposal, or environmental fees? What does a second compartment cost if you find one? A good company answers in one breath. Details on our version: the septic tank pumping page.

The cost of skipping it

The most expensive pump-out is the one you didn’t get. Solids that overflow the tank clog the drainfield, and drainfield repair starts at $3,500, which is more than ten pump-outs. On a 3–5 year schedule, pumping costs your household roughly $70–110 a year. It’s the cheapest utility you have.
